As part of its telecommunication services,
Axiom Business Systems offer
telephone lines to their customers. This means that at the end of the month they issue
telephone bills to their customers informing them of the amount of calls made, and their respective charges.
A file called a Call Detail Record (or CDR) is
downloaded for each day's telephone calls
from Axiom's supplier. These input files need splitting into different customers' numbers and the Axiom Business Systems charging rates applied.
UK DEV provided a solution to read these CDR files and turn them into telephone bills. This requires the application to
process millions of records a year and provide accurate calls statistics and bills to be given to customers.
